T & H Walton Stores started up over 40 years ago, and in 2004, the South African based company AFGRI Holdings Ltd. acquired the longstanding business. Since the acquisition, there has been significant investments in the infrastructure of the business, with efficient systems being installed and operational facilities developed and expanded. In 2013, our name officially changed from T & H Walton Stores to AFGRI Equipment. In 2014, AFGRI was purchased by a private company called AgriGroupe and unlisted from the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange). AFGRI Equipment now runs as a corporate structure with the necessary policies, procedures and financial backing in place.
The synergies between the two countries enable us to utilize AFGRI Holdings Ltd.’s dedicated training team as well as their specialists to improve service to our customers. With the backing of the holding company, AFGRI Equipment is well positioned for ongoing expansion.
The alignment with the holding company saw the appointment of Mr Patrick Roux as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr Roux currently controls 42 large dealerships in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Australia.
Mr Gollie Coetzee was appointed to the Board of Directors and serves as the Operations Director for AFGRI Equipment Australia. He comes with a proven track record and has vast experience in the agricultural industry, having previously worked 26 years for John Deere and AFGRI.
With the appointment of Mr Wessel Oosthuizen as Commercial Director in 2015, we expanded our footprint in Western Australia with the acquisition of Jolly and Sons in August 2015 followed by the purchase of Greenline Ag in August 2016 and Ratten & Slater Machinery in April 2017.
