G5Plus CommandCenter Display The G5Plus CommandCenter is the central information system used on all John Deere S7 and X9 Combines. The display allows the operator to view various important harvest and diagnostic information during harvesting and organized in a layout based on operator preferences. The G5Plus CommandCenter has been developed in combination with the CommandARM™ console and the multifunction control lever to deliver outstanding ergonomics paired with best-in-class natural navigation.
Ground Speed Automation dynamically adjusts combine ground speed during harvest based on various operator inputs and internal sensors around the machine. These sources are continuously evaluated and executed upon to command a harvesting speed:
Transition the traditional mindset from harvesting at a fixed speed, thereby feeding varying crop throughput, to instead a more productive viewpoint of maintaining consistent throughput by varying the machine’s ground speed proportionally with using automation. This, along with focusing less on controlling speed and more on other harvesting tasks, is the value achieved with Ground Speed Automation.
NOTE: A ProDrive™ or ProDrive XL Transmission is required to use Ground Speed Automation. Upon selecting this transmission, Ground Speed Automation is included from factory with any Connectivity and Technology Package.
Ground Speed Automation continuously evaluates multiple inputs while harvesting to dynamically adjust the combine’s ground speed
T-Series concept The overshot beater makes the T6 unique in the industry. Over-the-top feeding to gently transfer material from threshing into the separation area. This enables larger wrapping angles at the concave and separating drum and ensures higher throughput with minimum losses even under the toughest separation conditions.
For those who desire the highest productivity and highest straw yields, the T-Series Combine is the right solution.

T6 800 with 13,500-L (383-bu) grain tank Two grain tank sizes are available 11,000 L (312 bu) and 13,500 L (383 bu) (requires ProDrive, not available with HillMaster). Together with the 150 L/s (4.3 bu/sec) unload rate they provide a perfect match for the productivity of this combine. 11,000-L (312-bu) grain tanks offer a high capacity to increase harvest time between unloading. With 13,500-L (383-bu) grain tanks providing the highest productivity for operators.
With 150 L/s (4.3 bu/sec) unload rate the tanks are empty again in 73 seconds (11,000 L [312 bu]) / 90 seconds (13,500 L [383 bu]).
Both grain tanks come with two grain-tank-level sensors to alert the operator when levels reach three-fourths and full. The grain tank levels are also tied into the beacon lights to alert grain cart drivers. A convenient hinged door panel provides quick access to obtain a grain sample. The grain trough delivers grain right to the sampling area for increased safety when taking an early grain tank sample.
For easier clean out all grain tanks are equipped with tool-less cross auger cleanout hatches.

T6 Extra FineCut Chopper
Xcel Chopper Knives Harvest has started, and grain is rolling into the bins. The combines are set, and the sample looks good, but the producers must be sure they considered their residue management needs. The straw must be chopped fine enough to minimize row-unit plugging and future tillage passes, and it must be spread evenly to enable uniform emergence and faster soil warming for next year’s crop. Next year’s harvest starts this harvest, and it begins with proper residue management.
On T6 Combines, John Deere offers both a fine-cut (FC) and extra-fine-cut (XFC) chopper to meet a wide range of cut quality needs. The following table shows the key configuration differences in the chopper types.
Chopper type | Number of knives | Knife type | Number of counter knives | Speed | T6 800 |
Fine Cut chopping device | 85 | Straight knife | 61 | 3200 rpm | Y |
Extra Fine Cut chopping device | 124 | Xcel Chopper Knife | 61 | 3200 rpm | Y |
Y = Available | |||||
Depending on the producer’s needs, an XFC chopper could provide the additional cut quality they are looking for. Cut quality results vary depending on conditions. Test results have shown that the FC chopper with the knifebank at 100 percent engagement provides similar cut quality to the XFC chopper with the knifebank at 0 percent engagement as shown in the figure below. As knifebank engagement percentage on the XFC is increased, cut quality continues to increase as well as power consumed. Dealers and producers should be aware that the XFC chopper does consume additional horsepower and fuel compared to a FC chopper. The decision to utilize an XFC chopper versus a FC chopper needs to be carefully considered and needs to align with the producer’s overall residue management strategy.
