Minecraft collab to promote agriculture to young gamers

John Deere has collaborated with the creators of Minecraft, with the latest version, FarmCraft, bringing awareness of agriculture to young game enthusiasts. Created by Blockworks, in collaboration with John Deere, FarmCraft, the Minecraft experience introduces players to modern agriculture through virtual use of machines, processes and decision-making made on farms. The experience aims to show the next generation the importance of agriculture through a platform they are more familiar with. Players of the game undertake and complete unique farming missions, from planting crops through to harvesting them. The game also provides an added educational benefit of player interaction with an automated researcher who explain in more detail different scenarios in the game as the players explore and complete missions. John Deere global manager – brand licensing Lauren Willis said the company was focused on finding unique ways to promote awareness of agriculture to the next generation. “John Deere places a significant focus on youth education as a means to increase the number of students interested in pursuing college degrees and careers in agriculture,” Ms Willis said. “Our team sees FarmCraft as a fun and unique way to introduce the industry to a whole new generation of young people.” The game is available in Australia on the Minecraft Marketplace.
