Carnamah’s Chris praises colleagues after service milestone

AFGRI’s Chris van Zyl believes working at AFGRI opened the door for many opportunities for him and his family, after celebrating five years at the Carnamah branch in May last year.

Chris started his career in Ag with an apprenticeship at AFGRI Equipment in South Africa at the company’s Bethlehem branch. After qualifying as a service technician, Chris spent the next five years working at AFGRI and then Senwes before an opportunity became available to move across to Australia with AFGRI. In May 2016, Chris his wife Madri and their four kids, relocated from South Africa to Australia to start work at AFGRI Equipment in Carnamah. At first, Chris admitted it took a little while for the family to settle into the town but now they loved being a part of the community and enjoy exploring the great outdoors - camping and fishing throughout the Mid-West. After three years working as a technician in the local area, Chris took on more managerial responsibilities, working closely with branch manager Wayne Barry before being promoted to service manager at the branch. Chris said making the move across was a fantastic decision for him and his family. “It’s something we had always wanted to do and we jumped at the opportunity to make the switch,” he said. “One of the best things about living and working in a small town is feeling a part of the community. “We have a great mix of people at work, a fantastic team - it really does feel like a family.” Chris said he felt confident he had chosen the right company to build his career with. “It’s nice to see how far the company has grown (over the past year five years) and the opportunities available to keep growing with it,” he said. “My goals are to keep learning, keep improving, do my job to the best of my ability and hopefully continue to climb the ladder with AFGRI.” Congratulations to Chris on an excellent five years with AFGRI Equipment in Australia.
